Durham Lumiere festival

| News in the North East | November 21, 2011

The Durham Lumiere Festival was an interesting event in the North East calender this year.

It was mild night, but I got over the cold fast when my mind was fixed on the awesome art surrounding me throughout my Sunday night in Durham City.

The 4 night Lumiere festival, which continued until Sunday night cost Durham county council, the Arts Council, the European commission culture programme and local sponsors over £1m, but it has been said the festival will bring in hundreds of thousands in revenue for the city.

The first festival in 2009 was devastated by rain to the electrics powering the event but it the 2009 event was estimated to have generated £1.5 Million.

I highly recommend anyone to visit the Lumiere Festival 2012, in Durham, Co.Durham, North East next year.

For the many people I have met who have not yet been to Durham City, I would say that Durham is one of the most spectacular cities not only in the North East of England, but in the World.

With the Lumiere Festival lighting up the city, Durham becomes an awe inspiring  sight more so that the city is already spectacular.

North East For Sale went to the Lumiere Festival, and we give it a high recommendation for things to do in the North East.

Other Things to do in the North East,

We will be writing more blogs about the events going on in the North East in the near future, so if you have an event you would us to write about, then please dont hesitate to send us your event for recommendation.

We love the North East, and we know the people from the region love it too, so we would love to hear from you!

What do you like about living here in the North East of England?
